A Toast to March
Here is the scene – March 1, 2010:
Driving home from the gym this AM, latte in hand. I am doing well, imagining that age has not at all touched me despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary – (my driver’s license says I turned 43 last week!). I am ready for some change and am out looking for it. My senses are on high alert for signs of spring—it is March after all. It is time…
And then I see it! Little heads of daffodils trying to make their way to the light. And I smell it – air that has a tinge of earth to it. And I feel it – wind that does not slap my face, but rather dances giddily by. And of course, I hear it too. Adam Durwitz (as always singing just for me, the ageless woman in the SUV) – It’s been a Long December, and there’s reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last… I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower, makes you talk a little lower – why yes, yes it has been an endless winter and yes I am ready to laugh and yes, yes it is time.
So here’s to an easy March and warmer days and let’s get this thing started – in like a lion, out like a lamb and oh yes – beware of the Ides of March!
