Jennifer Lopez is a girl after my own heart! I have pictures of myself just days before Samuel was born as glam as I could manage (not at Fashion Week, but rather dining at Galileo in Washington, DC) and dressed in blue linen. Let’s call it the Waiting for Baby Blues! Major kudos to Jennifer Lopez for pulling off this stunning look with such sophistication and savvy. And for making it to Bryant Park as well! Jennifer is flawless from head to toe (and how I adore those shoes – but how ever did she manage?). She looks fantastic –- her skin is radiant, her hair lush and her dress divine.
Even in hard to pull off Satin, the dress really works — the hue is beyond flattering and the details (how fantastic is that jeweled neckline next to her gorgeous face?) including the cap, bubble sleeve are well suited for this super chic look. ‘Tis true!
Here is what to keep in mind when stealing Jennifer Lopez’s “Blues” look Forty Weeks Style:
*Blue is an easy to incorporate hue that also packs a fashion punch. Wear blue as a rich monochromatic statement or use it as a separate to add pop.
*Look for high sheen satins to take blue into evening and blue-infused ethnic prints and fabrics to make a high-impact daytime statement.
*Choose your blue based on your skin and hair color. Work to complement, not overpower with color. *Don’t be afraid to experiment with rich new hues of teal, cobalt and Indigo that are abundant this season.
*When you get blue, do it right – insist on the right fit and cut to flatter your curves.

This vibrant, indigo, Shirred Waist Tunic from Mimi Maternity (left, $29.99 on sale) shows off sexy shoulders and drapes thanks to a shirred tie waist. Side bust gathers help to ensure a great fit. The Liz Lange for Target Woven Smock in Turquoise (left, $20) is an easy to wear way to get the blues. The top is made of cotton and features a square neck and scoop back making it anything other than standard issue. This top leans more towards a boho chic look, which can be accomplished easily and with style! Try some silver metals and earth-toned gems in the form of long earrings or necklaces.
I have become a huge fan of this top! The Due Kimono Maternity Top in Teal (right, $54 on sale) is made of a comfortable (and easy to care for) Rayon and Spandex blend.
